IPL 2022: RCB breaks the dream of Lucknow team, loses in Eliminator

Kolkatta, Online Desk. The Indian Premier League 2022 journey for Lucknow Supergiants came to a halt in the Eliminator match against RCB. Batting first after losing the toss at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, RCB had set a target of 208 runs in front of Lucknow on the basis of Rajat Patidar’s brilliant century. But despite KL Rahul’s 79 and Deepak Hooda’s 45, the team stipulated. I could score only 193 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and got out of the IPL after losing the match by 14 runs. Josh Hazlewood took 3 wickets for RCB.

Deepak and Rahul’s innings did not work

Chasing the target of 208 runs, Lucknow started off well and in the very first over they lost the wicket of the in-form De Kock. KL Rahul tried to take over the innings but the team soon got another blow in the form of Manan Vohra. He was dismissed by Hazlewood. For the third wicket, Deepak and Rahul tried to make a comeback with a partnership of 96 runs but Lucknow did not face the RCB bowlers.

19th over became the turning point

After 18 overs, Lucknow’s score was 175 for 4 and they needed 32 runs from 12 balls to win but Josh Hazlewood first dismissed KL Rahul for 79 at the hands of Shahbaz and then on the next ball Krunal Pandya was dismissed. By doing so, Lucknow’s hopes were dashed.

The reason for the defeat was told to the poor fielding

After the match, captain KL Rahul blamed poor fielding for Lucknow’s defeat. He said that dropping easy catches never helps. In this match, 4 catches were dropped from Lucknow. Explaining the difference between the two teams, he said that Rajat Patidar’s innings created the difference between victory and defeat.
