Plane caught in storm: SpiceJet plane jerks off; 40 passengers injured, 10 in critical condition

On Sunday, a SpiceJet Boeing B737 en route from Mumbai to Durgapur in West Bengal was caught in a storm. As a result, about 40 passengers were injured in the morning, 10 of them in critical condition. However, the pilot successfully landed the aircraft on the runway. The injured are being treated at a hospital.

According to media reports, the plane was landing at Qazi Nazrul Islam Airport in Durgapur when it was caught in a hurricane. About 40 passengers were injured when the luggage in the cabin began to fall as the flight faltered.

SpiceJet promised help
According to a report, the pilot had turned on the seat belt in view of the danger. Even then, two passengers were seriously injured in a collision with a food trolley. An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the food service should have been shut down upon signing the seat belt, and all passengers should have reached their seats, although this was ignored.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. A SpiceJet spokesperson also expressed regret over the incident and said it would do everything possible to help the injured.
